Coil Building
Students have been building their technical skills to try their hands at building a traditional coil pot. At this point, students have already coil built 8" cylinders to learn how to control this technique. 3D printing is based upon this process, each layer is added successively to the last. In this project students will not only build vertically, but also horizontally. Students will create a custom templates to help guide their coils and continue to use the score and slip technique.
Students are free to explore how large they can build and how to treat the outer surface. This project is meant to be open ended and free form as long as the coil method is used.
